Yael Salomon made her firrst steps in the design field with a one year internship at Balenciaga in 1993 in the artistic direction department after which she moved to Tel-Aviv, working for an auction house where she immerse herself in the fascinating world of modern and contemporary art. Starting curating jewelry collections for art galleries, focusing on a large variety of designs, from one-offs to fine handcrafted gold pieces, discovering the meticulous works of goldsmiths and stone setters, learning gemology and always detecting new techniques and emerging material uses.
In 2000, Yael joined the Shenkar Design Academy for a four years journey, studying jewelry design and ?nally materializing her own design abilities and aspirations, eventually launching her own label. Yael Salomon's jewelry pieces are handcrafted in a small Atelier in North Thailand, owned by a French expert in goldsmith, transmitting his skills and wide knowledge to his artisans, formed mostly by young women, acquiring a decent and fulfilling profession, investing in the process their endless patience and care.
The pieces are hand crafted from brass, sometimes tin, plated with a minimum of 3 Micron 18 Karat Gold, Silver or Ruthenium. The stones used are semi-precious stones, sourced from all over the world like mother of Pearl high polished white beads, Onyx, Turquoise, Zirconia (CZ) and Majorca Pearls.
The creation process starts with Yael's 3D sketch then translated into handmade wax carving or traditional goldsmithing by a “sample master”, which then goes through casting, stones setting, polishing and finishing; all of these steps made in an artisanal way with all the attention it requires in each and every piece that is being created, assuring the quality of each object to wear.
We love Yael Salomon's beautiful minimalist and sculptural pieces for their simplicity and ability and modern allure. Perfect for the urban chic woman.
